
Jose Sampaio
José Sampaio is widely regarded as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, known for operating at the intersection of law, business, and strategy in complex, highly regulated industries. An international legal and compliance executive with over 20 years of experience, he supports global organizations in navigating governance, regulatory frameworks, risk management, and cross-border operations.
He began his career at a Big Four firm and later at a renowned Brazilian tax law firm, where he developed deep expertise in corporate taxation and international business structures — shaping the pragmatic, business-oriented approach that defines his leadership style.
Since 2011, Sampaio has held senior leadership roles at Edison Chouest Offshore, one of BRATECC’s longest-standing members and collaborators. His experience includes leading high-impact negotiations, engaging with governmental and regulatory authorities, and supporting complex business initiatives across jurisdictions.
A licensed attorney in Brazil, Sampaio is currently serving his third term as Head of the Tax Legal Committee at ABEAM (Brazilian Association of Offshore Support Companies). He is also a longstanding member of the Maritime and Port Law Commission of the Brazilian Bar Association – Rio de Janeiro Chapter (OAB-RJ), underscoring his continued contribution to the development of the maritime and offshore sectors.
