Maria Claudia B. Alves
Dr. Maria Claudia B. Alves is an innovative leader with over 20 years of experience in global programs. She is the Senior Director for Engineering Global Programs at Texas A&M University, where she has spent over a decade transforming global education in the College of Engineering. During this time, she has doubled student participation in engineering global programs, implemented strategic plans, and pioneered new global experience models, such as international research, internships, and project-based field trips. Dr. Alves collaborates extensively with faculty and international partners, creating enduring global programs and serving on committees that advance the university's globalization agenda. Since joining Texas A&M in 2005 as Assistant Director for Latin American Programs, she has developed lasting partnerships, supported the establishment of the TAMU Soltis Center in Costa Rica, and earned prestigious accolades, including the Fulbright IEA France Award and the TAMU Tradition of Excellence Award. Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, and conversant in French, Dr. Alves holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and an MS in Marketing from Texas A&M. Dr. Alves is a recognized professional in her field and has been invited to speak at conferences and events worldwide, she is currently part of the steering council of the Annual Colloquium for International Engineering Education, and a member in the Brazil-Texas Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for 2025-2026 (BRATECC).
