Raul Vieira

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil -1957; Naval Architect from the Rio de Janeiro Federal University with an extension on Electrical Engineering from Rio de Janeiro State University and a Graduate from the Duke University Fuqua School of business Advanced Management Program.

Joined Bureau Veritas in 1980, as a Marine surveyor in charge of new buildings in Brazilian shipyards.

In 1983 was transferred to the Bureau Veritas Brazil Plan Approval Office, in charge of review of design safety for marine, oil exploration and production and process plant installations. In that Department, gained experience in certification and statutory compliance, working on behalf of different national and international authorities.

Through the 1980’s and early 90’s, performed several similar functions in the Bureau Veritas network, including services in Peru and France.

In 1995, was transferred to the United States, and eventually became responsible for BV’s O&G operations in North America, which includes Conformity Assessment and Asset Integrity Management services. In that position, he managed BV’s activities in projects such as the Petrobras XIX, Chad-Cameroon, and the team that provided support to BP Upstream Technology Group asset integrity management effort.

From 2005, was posted in Malaysia, as Manager Oil, Gas, Process and Industrial Services for Southeast Asia, with responsibilities including all QHSE-related services of the market.

In 2010 to 2018 returned to Houston and held several positions within the Bureau Veritas North America Industry Division, related to conformity assessment, safety consulting, asset performance, regulatory framework development, and business innovation through the use of digital platforms including field automated solutions and data analytics

In 2018 joined Novetus Engineering LLC as Projects Director, responsible for the development of technical regulatory compliance and conformity assessment services.
